What is Australian White Cypress?

Australian White Cypress (Callitris glaucophylla) is native Australian softwood but is, in actual fact, a hard durable timber compared to most softwoods. Sawn or dressed, it is renowned for its resistance to termites and is widely used for house construction, flooring and fencing.

Where does it grow?
Australian White Cypress grows prolifically throughout the western areas
of New South Wales and Queensland. Over 90% is harvested from Crown Land natural regrowth forests in western NSW.

How is it harvested?

White Cypress Distribution
State Forests of NSW harvests posts from sustainably managed forests established in the 1890's. Only mature trees with a high proportion of the darker durable heartwood are selected. The small size of these trees results from intense competition in closely-spaced stands. Stems are generally very straight, with little taper and small knots.
